Newcastle United have completed the £10 million transfer of Nigerian international Obafemi Martins from Inter. He has signed a five-year deal which will make him 32, erm, 26 when his contract expires. [Soccernet]

Atletico Madrid’s attempt to hijack Jose Antonio Reyes’ potential transfer to Real Madrid has been blocked by Arsenal. [BBC]

Serie B powerhouse Juventus have taken the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) to civil court in an effort to get themselves back into Serie A. Italy’s place in the Euro 2008 qualifiers is at stake, although this could still end up with Juve playing the like of Serie C2 newboys Monopoli this season. [Toronto Star]

And Manchester City goon Ben Thatcher may be retroactively punished by the FA for putting Pedro Mendes in the hospital. Then, FIFA will jump in and say they can’t do that.[The Telegraph]
